ManiaTV! is currently touring the country visiting more than 90 college campuses to promote the first strictly based Internet TV music station. By handing out T-shirts and other promotional items, ManiaTV! is hoping to get the word out about the free alternative to MTV and VH1 to anyone with an Internet connection.
ManiaTV! claims to be more like the original MTV with no half-hour shows. Instead, their shows are only 15 to 20 minutes long. Unlike their TV counterparts, ManiaTV! has commercials every couple hours instead of every 10 minutes.
The current target age group for ManiaTV! is 12-34 with the greater part of their 1 million viewers being college students. Since the Federal Communications Commission does not regulate the Internet, they perform their own censoring but their adult content is aimed towards college students. ManiaTV! also encourages its viewers to submit sample music videos of musicians as another medium to get their name out to the public.
So you’ve heard of DJ and VJ, but what about CJ?
Just when you think you’ve heard it all
www.ManiaTV.com brings us the next in online entertainmen--CyberJockey or “CJ”. With 17 different CJs currently working for the Internet based show, these CJs take your online requests through email and online chat. The CJs attitudes range from sexy/cool to shy to straight crazy. While requests and TV shows are being shown you get the opportunity to talk with the CJs live in online chat rooms via their website or through their private server, irc.maniatv.com, available using
IRC.
With many different shows throughout the day such as “Wake the Hell UP!”, “Shiny & New”, and “U Pick‘EM”, you get the opportunity to see videos you want over the Internet. One of our favorite qualities of maniatv.com is the lack of commercials between music videos and requests. ManiaTV! hopes to have nearly 2 million users by the end of the College Campus Tour so checkout their website
ManiaTV.com and look for them at a campus near you.
