In late January of this year, PCzapper BV acquired all rights on the Palmbutler Media Center product, previously owned and developed by Homelinc A/S.
Under the motto 'one pc is enough' PCzapper BV will market the product as a simple and cost effective alternative for Windows Media Center. Users of Palmbutler Media Center don’t need an extra pc to enjoy multimedia (music, pictures, DVD and streaming content from the internet) in the center of the living room. Palmbutler Media Center also works as an extender for users that use Windows Media Center as a digital video recorder and Palmbutler Media Center to view the recorded files on an ordinary TV.
Under the new management the company will shift its focus to the rapidly expanding broadband market. For internet access and content providers the launch of a wholesale version of Palmbutler Media Center was announced. Jan Prins, VP Sales & Marketing, commented: "First of all we believe that our product is a reason for people to buy into higher bandwidth subscriptions. Secondly our product is ideally suited to be used as a platform for value added content services such as video on demand, pay TV, advertorials, gaming and ecommerce. With these elements in mind we have developed the .tv platform that will allow ISPs to provide the full range of triple play services over one single broadband connection."
Vincent Everts added: "Initially we will continue and intensify our current sales operations in Denmark and The Netherlands. We will serve the European retail market through our international sales office in De Bilt. We expect to roll out our Palmbutler Media Center .tv platform over Europe in the second half of this year." The .tv platform was launched during Cebit.
PCzapper.TV will officially launch their website April 19th, 2005.
