If you haven't yet read your daily cartoon, an article written in the USA Today will definitely suffice. Kevin Maney writes an article titled, "
Pro players + tech gurus = Chinese stew."
Kevin writes an informative and humorous article describing IDV GMOD, or IDV Global Media On-Demand (GMOD). "IDV GMOD is a project, or company, or group of companies — none of this is clear — that's trying to create a standard for sending video programming over the Internet. Plus, IDV GMOD is building what it calls a next-generation home media computer. It also says it is creating software, a sports programming network, a payment system, online games, a dating service and more — none of which yet exists. IDV GMOD has also spent large sums buying up Web site names, including Sports.tv, Movies.tv and Games.tv."
Now I have to admit, when I first read about
IDV GMOD, I was skeptical too. The company sounds too good to be true with aspirations that are somewhere in space. Per Mr. Maney, "Not every little company chooses to go up against Dell, Microsoft, AOL, MasterCard, Nintendo, Time Warner and just about every existing tech company — all at the same time."
We'd agree with that. So what will become of IDV GMOD?
