Alcatel at Supercomm continued to demonstrate its
leadership in the area of providing triple play solutions, including Internet
Protocol Television (IPTV) capabilities, to its customers. As the leading
triple play solutions provider, Alcatel has gained unparalleled services
integration and network design experience through its work on more than 25
major IPTV deployments around the world. At Supercomm, Alcatel is
demonstrating this leadership through new solutions, real-world
demonstrations, strategic partnerships, and more than a dozen speaking
engagements and presentations.
Alcatel's triple play leadership is demonstrated in the following areas:
- Innovative new product introductions: At the show, Alcatel will
unveil the Alcatel 7342 Intelligent Services Access Manager (ISAM)
FTTU Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) solution that was
announced one week ago. Alcatel is also introducing the 5750
Subscriber Services Controller (SSC), a comprehensive policy
management solution that will enable service providers to centrally
manage their customers and services. This unlocks the full revenue
potential of triple play by offering an unprecedented user-driven
environment. In addition, Alcatel is announcing a joint collaboration
with global chip maker Freescale Semiconductor to create the most
advanced GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical Network) standards compliant
silicon which will further advance the adoption of triple play
services (voice, video and data) delivered via standard fiber to the
home
- Real-world demonstrations: Alcatel's presence at this year's
conference will include several real-world solution demonstrations
highlighting various elements of Alcatel's industry-leading solutions
portfolio. In one of the most exciting and ground-breaking
demonstrations, Alcatel will provide a real-world, real-time example
of the hardware and software elements needed to meet the scalability,
reliability and quality of service of requirements of an IPTV
solution. This demonstration will feature the MicrosoftTV IPTV
Edition software platform, which is a key component of the global
collaboration agreement between the two companies that is designed to
rapidly accelerate the availability of IPTV services for broadband
operators worldwide. In addition to IPTV, other demonstrations will
highlight several of the voice and multimedia applications that
service providers are offering as part of their triple play service
offerings.
- Industry expertise: Throughout the conference, Alcatel
representatives will be sharing industry expertise through
participation in more than a dozen speaking opportunities many of
which are focused around compelling issues related to triple play and
IPTV such as examining public policy concerns, content distribution
challenges and network infrastructure best practices. The Alcatel
booth will also feature a "Presentation Theatre" where Alcatel
executives will present their thoughts on key topics, including a
session on IPTV today that will be presented jointly by executives
from both Alcatel and Microsoft.
