Ikanos Communications, a leading
developer of Fiber Fast(TM) broadband solutions, announced that its
CleverConnect 600 chipset has been selected by Netopia, a
market leader in broadband equipment and service delivery software, to power
Netopia's VDSL gateway products. Specifically, the Ikanos chipsets will power
Netopia's MiAVo 3396PC-VGx Gateway and MiAVo 3397GP-VGx Gateway for IP-based
VDSL2 networks, and MiAVo 3397 GA-VGx Gateway for ATM-based VDSL2 networks.
"These products represent the first members of a comprehensive family of
MiAVo gateways that are precisely targeted at the needs of our carrier
partners," said Ken Haase, vice president of product management and technical
services at Netopia, Inc. "We selected Ikanos as a chipset provider because
Ikanos products are immediately available, field-proven VDSL solutions that
support both ATM and IP deployments."
The CleverConnect 600 chipset is specifically designed to facilitate VDSL2
services in customer premises equipment. When coupled with the Ikanos
Programmable Operating System (iPOS(TM)), the CleverConnect 600 can easily be
tailored to specific application requirements such as those in Netopia's MiAVo
gateways.
"Carriers will need a variety of gateway products to successfully deliver
interactive broadband services over a broad range of customers and topologies,
and our chipsets provide that flexibility," said Dean Grumlose, vice president
of marketing at Ikanos. "We are pleased to continue our collaboration with
Netopia as they take the lead in delivering gateway products that enable
carriers to realize their next-generation service plans."
