Paradyne, a leading provider of triple play broadband loop carriers (BLCs) and Ethernet access equipment, announced that
Cavalier Telephone will be using the 8000 BLC platform to support Cavalier's entry into the IPTV video service business. Cavalier Telephone, based in Richmond, Virginia, is a competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) serving residential and business customers across five states and the District of Columbia. Cavalier's IPTV services include broadcast television, video on demand (VOD), and other entertainment services.
"Cavalier is a state-of-the-art carrier with plans to support the full triple-play of voice, data, and video services," said Brad Evans, CEO of Cavalier Telephone. "Paradyne has been a great supplier for us for delivering voice and data services, so we are pleased to now extend that partnership into video services." Paradyne's 8000 BLC supports downstream data rates up to 29Mbps, with full support for IGMP and Quality of Service in order to provide best-quality video services over Cavalier's existing copper plant.
"Cavalier is a strong CLEC with a compelling business strategy, and we're proud to be a key provider for their triple play solution," said Ken Hood, VP of Marketing and Product Management for Paradyne. "Paradyne's 8000 BLC platform provides the service flexibility needed for Cavalier to deliver a competitive video offering to complement its existing services."
