Juniper Networks, Inc. announced that KT, South Korea's leading telecommunications service provider, has selected the Juniper Networks M320 Multiservice Edge routing platform to create a new, premium IP/MPLS network for the delivery of advanced services such as Voice over IP (VoIP), IP-based television (IPTV) and Wi-Bro, Korea's wireless broadband standard. KT is expected to begin deployments of the M-series platforms by the end of this year, and will continue to expand the network as demand for the new services increases.
"KT is building a new network to provide next-generation IP services," said Tim Kang, vice president of Korea for Juniper Networks. "Based on its excellent results with Juniper Networks on its other infrastructure projects, KT decided to build out the new network with a proven vendor and a proven platform. The M-series is the best choice for provisioning the types of value-added multimedia services KT's new network will offer."
The Juniper Networks M320 is the industry's most scalable, secure, and reliable 10 Gbps-enabled multiservice edge router. With the ability to support both existing and emerging Layer 2 and Layer 3 services simultaneously, the M-series offers a long term strategic investment for providers looking to transform multiple, disparate networks into a single multi-service IP/MPLS network while still protecting their earlier infrastructure investments. The M-series features the high-performance and resilient JUNOS operating system, ensuring consistent and reliable performance for all of KT's advanced network services.
"As service providers expand their networks to include advanced, value-added services such as IPTV, network reliability and performance become increasingly critical," concluded Kang. "Juniper Networks' proven M-series platforms are an ideal solution for these new networks to secure and assure performance and availability."
