Tut Systems Inc., an industry leader enabling the delivery of next-generation data and video services over broadband networks, announced that
Monroe Telephone deployed its Astria content processors to deliver advanced digital TV services to customers in Monroe, Oregon.
Tut Systems' carrier class Astria CP platform serves as the central video processing system for Monroe's digital headend. From a single headend, Monroe will serve its existing base of cable TV customers and expand its video offerings to DSL subscribers. Tut Systems provided comprehensive systems integration services including project management, design, staging, installation, and pre-launch testing at Monroe's headend facilities.
"As a rural community service provider, we always look to leverage any capital investment we make to enhance or expand our service offerings," said John T. Dillard, President of Monroe Telephone. "Tut Systems' Astria CP platform provides the flexibility and quality we need to upgrade our video offering to our existing CATV customers and low-bit rate we require to deliver IPTV services to customers with copper access lines."
"Independent telcos have been at the forefront of TelcoTV deployments," said Matt Davis, Director, Broadband Access Technologies, Yankee Group. "Many have been seeking a way to transition from legacy cable assets to a converged network that leverages their copper infrastructure as well. Tut Systems has been a pioneer in this space and continues to develop products customized for this targeted market segment."
"Monroe Telephone is harnessing the full power of the advanced services that Digital TV can offer," said Sal D'Auria, Chairman, President and CEO of Tut Systems. "We're pleased to be helping Monroe converge their video operations into a single, state-of-the-art headend and we look forward to a long, successful partnership."
