ECI Telecom introduced its Hi-FOCuS MiniCAB, a unique Outside Plant (OSP) solution that can fully replace a complete street cabinet. The Hi-FOCuS MiniCAB allows broadband deployments at any location, while continuing to deliver voice services, and reducing the installation hurdles and expenses associated with a traditional street cabinet. Even in saturated locations or rural areas, where it was not previously feasible for operators to provide broadband services, this mini street cabinet solution provides subscribers with the necessary broadband bandwidth to cost-effectively support next generation triple play services. The Hi-FOCuS MiniCAB supports ADSL2+ and VDSL2-based capabilities, and is the latest addition to the Hi-FOCuS family of OSP solutions.
Substantially reducing the cost of a traditional street cabinet, the Hi-FOCuS MiniCAB significantly lowers CAPEX, thus enabling carriers to economically maximize DSL broadband coverage to new subscribers. In addition, the Hi-FOCuS MiniCAB has lower OPEX and lower installation costs. As it easily locates DSL equipment next to copper cross-connect boxes, or closer to the end user, the Hi-FOCuS MiniCAB becomes the ideal triple play services solution.
"As operators shift broadband deployment towards remote locations, solutions with smaller form factors that are designed to reduce loop lengths and support the next generation of broadband applications are gaining importance. ECI Telecom's Hi-FOCuS MiniCAB clearly addresses these carriers' needs for a cost-effective and all-inclusive solution," commented Matt Davis, Director of the Broadband Access Technologies Decision Service at the Yankee Group. "By getting increasingly closer to the end-users, carriers are positioning themselves to offer higher bandwidth services that will support broadband multimedia applications and IPTV."
"As the latest addition to our OSP portfolio, we continue to lead the market in innovative, exceptional solutions," said Ofer Reviv, VP Marketing and Sales Support of ECI Telecom's Broadband Access Division. "We are already seeing significant interest in this solution from our customers."
The Hi-FOCuS MiniCAB has all features built-in including GigE network interface, POTS splitters, DSL modems, line protectors, and local or remote power, removing the need to install separate systems. The unit is durable and weatherproof and can be located on poles or walls, or bolted onto existing cabinets.
The Hi-FOCuS MiniCAB ADSL2+ version is available today. The VDSL2 version will be available in Q1 2006.
