WEGENER Corporation, a leading provider of television, audio and data distribution networks worldwide, will showcase its latest MPEG-4 high definition (HD) set top at TELECOM '05, October 24-26 at the Venetian Hotel and Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas.
Launching video services to high-speed Internet customers is part of a "triple play" strategy for telco operators to increase market share. MPEG- 4/h.264 is an advanced video coding scheme seen as a key enabler to drive large scale deployments of video services, such as, multi-channel broadcasts, video-on-demand and HD programming.
"WEGENER's commitment to supporting advanced coding and high definition will allow our customers greater opportunities to create unique solutions to differentiate themselves," stated Ned Mountain, president of WEGENER.
WEGENER's streaming media decoder, SMD-515, supports MPEG-4/h.264, MPEG-2 and VC-1 decoding. The IP set top fully supports both SD and HD video, optional PVR and rapid integration of 3rd party applications. WEGENER is exhibiting in booth 104 on the TELECOM '05 exhibit show floor.
