In a preview of further advancements coming to on-demand television this year,
SeaChange International's Digital Television Tour rolls into the 2006 International CES in Las Vegas with exciting new applications for broadband operators, including games-on-demand.
At the vanguard of on-demand television since its first commercial launches, SeaChange software and systems now empower millions of homes globally to enjoy movies, television programs and other content whenever they want. SeaChange's Digital Television Truck provides a focal point for an unparalleled experience in the evolving on-demand business. Demonstrations at CES this week center on the SeaChange ® Game Now
TM management system, one of the new applications operating on the SeaChange middleware platform.
SeaChange middleware, currently serving over five million homes globally, enables broadband operators to extend new on-demand and broadcast video applications to any IP-connected device. In addition to games-on-demand, the SeaChange platform is also known for its unique DVD-on-demand application and content browser. SeaChange's open application programming interfaces and industry standards also enable software developers to contribute compelling and valuable applications to the on-demand and IPTV experience.
SeaChange Game Now empowers broadband operators to create communities for gaming to participate in the growing multi-billion dollar video game market. Game Now is a game management system used by cable and telco operators that links to their VOD and back-office service through middleware to support stream-based games, client-based games and DVD-type games. These games can be multiplayer, action, adventure, trivia, sports, 2D, 3D and arcade style.
"Broadband operators on three continents are using SeaChange middleware to extend their on-demand applications and services," said Anne L. Coulombe, director of product marketing for middleware and games, SeaChange. "Games are emerging as one of the compelling extension services for set-top boxes in digital television, including IPTV."
During CES conference sessions, SeaChange's digital video experts will help the industry explore business and technology strategies for capturing new opportunities in television. Tab Butler, director of broadcast sales, presents the cost-efficiency advantages of IT-based content management in "Storage and Content Creation, Editing and Distribution" for Storage Visions 2006 on Friday. Stuart Lipson, vice president of content solutions participates in "The Digital Home Entertainment Complex - Music and Movies Everywhere," part of Digital Hollywood on Saturday.
SeaChange's Digital Television Tour Truck is located adjacent to the Las Vegas Convention Center at The Beach (365 Convention Center Drive) through Saturday. Middleware and games demonstrations will run on SeaChange VOD Systems streaming to multiple HFC and IP set-top boxes. These systems incorporate SeaChange Axiom video operations services software to automate content and manage bandwidth for end-to-end on-demand services.
