Optical Solutions Inc. announced Cal-Ore Telephone is using its FiberPath Fiber-to-the-Premises (FTTP) system to deliver voice, video and data services to a new residential development in Klamath Falls, Oregon. The development is located in the picturesque Upper Klamath Lake area, an area renowned for its rugged natural beauty and environmental diversity.
Cal-Ore Telephone is headquartered in Dorris, California three miles south of the Oregon border. The Local Exchange Carrier (LEC) serves over 850 square miles of California and Oregon with four exchanges. Recently the company expanded services beyond its traditional exchange borders to provide voice, video and data services to a prestigious development in neighboring Klamath Falls, Oregon.
"The Klamath Falls area is experiencing significant growth and development. Much of the area's allure is its unspoiled natural beauty," said Cal-Ore Telephone's Operations Manager Bob Hensley. "Residents love the areas serenity but also want to stay connected, so we have installed an Optical Solutions FTTP communications system that has the capacity and flexibility to deliver everything from traditional voice services to HDTV. Advanced communications services are adding to the development's value and attractiveness."
Optical Solutions' FiberPath 500 system, featuring GPON technology, provides unsurpassed bandwidth for delivering advanced voice, video and data services. The FiberPath system is fully compliant with ITU FSAN standards, and is the only residential GPON platform that is field-proven, widely deployed and available today.
"Forward looking carriers like Cal-Ore are determined to increase revenues by expanding their service area to new developments and underserved areas while containing costs," said Mike Dagenais, president and CEO of Optical Solutions. "A FiberPath system's PON design substantially reduces operations costs and its scalability allows system operators to invest in additional equipment as subscribers increase."
