BitBand, a leading provider of video delivery over IP solutions, announced today that it is expanding the company's offering in the IPTV market space with the presentation of a new high capacity video streaming server at TVoDSL 2006 in Paris this week.
Based on years of commercial deployments experience, customer interactions and resulting customer needs comprehension, BitBand has accelerated the development of a high throughput streaming and ingest engine that fits into the company's hybrid cluster architecture. With the new technology, BitBand provides solutions to a larger curve of storage/streaming requirements, all with a reduced footprint, and resulting in an even more cost effective solution for Telcos and Next Generation Service Providers (NGSPs).
BitBand's leading recording technology with the new generation platform allows the company to cater to increasing variations of TV on Demand and Video on Demand applications such as instant recording, program restart, classic NPVR and Pause-live TV (PLTV). The outcome is a Telco-optimized video delivery solution that enables revenue generating services today and in the future with fast ROI and quick time to market.
"With the new high capacity server, we have designed a mixed cluster composed of multiple independent building blocks, each tuned to a specific purpose and all managed and "virtualized" as if they were a single server. This allows us to provide cost efficient and multiple-application-enabling video delivery solutions that can grow as the service evolves," said Yuval Sovinsky, EVP Sales & Marketing, BitBand.
With BitBand's new addition to the Vision
TM server family, Telcos and Service Providers can enjoy a full range of streaming rates that address different variations of possible deployment scenarios and network topologies – from initial small scale deployments to nationwide large scale networks in distributed, hybrid or centralized topologies.
General availability is expected in Q2 2006 providing several models, including a RAM-based model with 5.4Gbps from 1RU specially designed for edge caching of popular VOD and PLTV. Achieving a stream density of up to 216Gbps from a standard rack allows serving 108,000 H.264 2Mbps streams from a single rack, serving a population of up to 2M subscribers. Trial systems are available this quarter.
