Looking to help IPTV operators protect their on-demand content from unwanted service theft and piracy,
Entone Technologies, a leading provider of personal video content delivery solutions, and
Verimatrix, Inc., a leading developer of content protection and security solutions, today announced that Entone's widely-deployed StreamLiner network video recorder (NVR) is integrated with the Verimatrix Content Authority System (VCAS). This collaborative effort will enable IP television (IPTV) service providers a more efficient and enhanced content security solution that can be quickly and easily deployed.
By integrating the VCAS software with Entone's StreamLiner video streaming technology, Entone and Verimatrix offer a comprehensive digital rights management (DRM) and video on demand (VOD) solution that significantly streamlines the process for getting VOD assets securely and reliably through the process from content creation, processing, distribution and playout.
Currently with most DRM systems, VOD content is distributed over a core network and stored at the operator's site on a stand-alone system called a "catcher." This content is manually copied to another server where encryption technology is applied, and then copied again to an on-site VOD server.
Entone has integrated VCAS into StreamLiner so that operators can avoid the extra intermediate step of copying a file. By running VCAS natively on Entone's StreamLiner, when a new VOD asset appears on the catcher, Entone's StreamLiner NVR automatically copies the content and seamlessly moves it to a VOD server for playout. For operators, this results in a simpler and error-free workflow that enables them to deliver VOD assets to subscribers faster and more efficiently.
"With numerous worldwide deployments over the past year, Entone's StreamLiner VOD solution has emerged as the clear market leader for IPTV VOD deployments," states Ian Jefferson, VP of Business Development for Entone Technologies. "Entone's traction is due not only to our market leading performance on open hardware platforms, but also from our end-to-end solution offering which includes content protection through our customer-driven partnership with Verimatrix."
"The success of many types of personal television services require secure availability to content and an easy way to prepare and deliver that content," said Steve Oetegenn, EVP, Global Sales and Marketing for Verimatrix. "This partnership ensures that our customers get both in a fully integrated, intuitive and highly automated package. Entone has the experience and proven technology necessary to help our customers build out their systems quickly and cost-effectively."
The integrated Entone and Verimatrix solution is being deployed at a number of video service operators worldwide.
