Beginning February 7, 2006, the award-winning film, "Racehoss," premieres as a free online screening being multicast at

Internet TV listing. In this dynamic presentation directed by filmmaker Sean Hepburn Ferrer, natural-born storyteller Albert Race Sample (nicknamed "Racehoss") passionately recounts his unforgettable and deeply moving journey of resiliency, revelation and redemption. "Racehoss" is a timely and powerful reminder that the human spirit can triumph against all odds.
Based on Sample's best-selling autobiography, "Racehoss: Big Emma's Boy," this riveting, one-man performance was produced and directed by filmmaker Sean Hepburn Ferrer (the son of Audrey Hepburn and Mel Ferrer). Shot in High Def for Breezeway Entertainment, this IndieUrban Film Festival winner showcases Sample's emotional and charismatic storytelling, which he infuses with multi-character role-playing and cutting humor.
"...of the most remarkable stories I've come across, perhaps the most remarkable is the story of Albert Race Sample, known as Racehoss."
Studs Terkel, Pulitzer Prize Winning Author
"These stories are worthy of Twain, Faulkner and Lardner."
Chicago Tribune
"'Racehoss' folds together three American traditions ... literary storytelling, the belief in personal transformation, and the faith in the individual to buck all odds... "
Robert Koehler, Variety.com
"If you appreciate a powerful story, 'Racehoss' is not to be missed... "
Laura Kelly, South Florida Sun-Sentinel
Born in 1930 in Texas, Sample was the mixed-race son of Emma (a hard-drinking black prostitute and gambler) and Mr. Albert (a wealthy white cotton broker and one of her tricks). He emerged from an abusive childhood an angry young man on a straight path to the penitentiary. By his early 20s, Sample was serving a 30-year prison sentence at Retrieve, a plantation-style prison known as "the burnin' hell."
After a profound spiritual awakening, Sample's future changed dramatically. In 1972, he was released after serving 17 years and soon received a full pardon and restoration of all civil rights. Sample went on to become the first ex-convict in Texas to work out of the Governor's office and to serve on the staff of the State Bar of Texas. In recognition for his work in the field of corrections and rehabilitation of ex-offenders, he received numerous high-profile humanitarian awards. This true American treasure passed away on May 19, 2005.
Ferrer explains, "We are very excited to share 'Racehoss' with an online audience through this new, multicast web format. This is one of the first times a film has had its initial release on the Internet rather than theaters. Once you have seen it and believe as we do that this is a gem worth keeping, you can order the DVD and experience this amazing story in all its natural beauty. The penetration of high-end digital home-viewing television is such that, in effect, we are reversing the public's quality experience. In the past you saw it once in the theaters in its best format (35 mm) and then at home multiple times on VHS. This has now changed diametrically to the opposite. View it once for free online and see it forever on DVD and soon on HDVD." Beginning February 7, 2006, "Racehoss" will be available for a free online viewing in its entirety at http://www.racehoss.com/multicast. There you can also purchase your copy of the "Racehoss" DVD and a limited-edition package containing a poster.
