Residents of the Huntington Landmark adult community can now enjoy the most advanced calling, Internet -- and, ultimately, entertainment -- services in the market today, delivered over an all-fiber optic-network installed by
Verizon.
The agreement calls for Huntington Landmark to allow Verizon to market within the community various bundles of calling, data and TV services including Internet access speeds of from up to 5 to up to 30 megabits per second (Mbps) and future entertainment choices that can include more than 22 high-definition TV channels, the most available from any provider.
Verizon workers have installed hair-thin glass fibers in the community that feed to special service units placed in each residence requesting the advanced services. "The agreement provides our residents with the ultimate in communications services and assures them that our community will remain on the leading edge of service choices well into the future," said Joe Winkler of Professional Community Management, who is the general manager of the Huntington Landmark community. "No delivery system exceeds Verizon's FiOS service package, and no other technology so effectively future-proofs our homes against changes in technology.
"Verizon's FIOS services will also provide Huntington Landmark residents with more choice for their high-speed Internet and voice providers. We are also very excited to have the option of expansive video service packages when they become available," Winkler said.
Verizon has been aggressively pursuing both single-family and multiple-dwelling-unit contracts, both for new developments and for retrofits, as part of the company's nationwide strategy to establish and deliver services over the next generation of broadband technology.
"The Huntington Landmark project will differentiate this community as a premier place to live, affording residents with services that support great deals on calling, provide high-powered data services that underpin teleworking, online research, surfing and downloading, as well as an industry-leading bundle of entertainment services that will launch there soon," said Eric Cevis, vice president of Verizon Enhanced Communities.
Verizon offers various plans for voice and high-speed Internet access. Demonstration accounts have been set up at the community's club house so residents can experience FiOS Internet for themselves.
Verizon FiOS TV, offering 250 all-digital channels of TV service and 22 high-definition channels, will be deployed in the area soon.
