Coaxsys, the leader in IPTV and multimedia networking, and XAVi Technologies, a leading provider of ADSL CPE solutions, today announced the availability of a TVnet-integrated modem for use in home IPTV deployments. The ADSL/ADSL2+ modem (model number X7823r+) includes integrated TVnet technology and a coax interface that enable operators to leverage a premise’s existing coaxial cable to distribute IPTV throughout a subscriber’s premise.

The announcement is the first publicly disclosed integration of the industry’s #1 coax-based IPTV network, TVnet. Since introducing TVnet IPTV networking solutions for telephone companies in early 2005, Coaxsys has acquired seventy-five Telco customers. XAVi’s new modem has integrated the TVnet technology found in the IPTV 7000 product line and offers 70Mbps of minimum sustained throughput for IPTV delivery.

Jim Chen, XAVi’s USA Sales Director, noted the reasons for his company’s new product: “Integrating TVnet into a XAVi modem was a logical decision for us. Being first-to-market with an integrated TVnet networking solution will enable us to gain market share in the US. Since TVnet is the dominant market leader in IPTV networking over coax, our X7823r+ modem will enable Telcos to distribute IPTV over coax without having to add an additional piece of equipment to the equation. The X7823r+ will work with all other TVnet devices and is available today. We are also considering integrating a TVnet ASIC directly into our modem once Coaxsys makes these chips available this summer.”

The X7823r+ integrates TVnet by way of a Mini-PCI card inside of the modem’s casing. The product is plug-and-play, requiring no software or switch settings, no configuration, and no monitoring.
