eWAN1, Inc., announced today it has completed the engineering, testing and integration of its proprietary international IP-based TV Guide, or "IPtv Guide," into the Company's new Global Internet Television service offering, which is set to launch and begin IP broadcasting in near High Definition quality to subscribers on April 19th at the "IPTV & Beyond" Expo in San Diego, California.
eWAN's "IPtv Guide" will be accessible anywhere on the planet in 36 languages, enabling subscribers to access program listings from their local market and time zone (local TV programming) in addition to 75 channels of traditional broadcast television that eWAN will initially offer with the new service. eWAN's "IPtv Guide" will seem familiar to subscribers because it closely resembles the interface of Gemstar-TV Guide International's domestic TV Guide product that is widely used on major U.S. cable systems. "IPtv Guide," however, will offer users additional functionality and interactivity above and beyond that of Gemstar's product, including interactivity with eWAN's time-shifted feature set, "EVO," which is similar to the offering by TiVo and, because eWAN's Global IPtv Service will offer a level of personalization never before seen, also enable local and traveling users the functionality and convenience of being able to tune in to programming of their personal preference wherever they are in the world, at any time.
Scott Kettle, eWAN's President, noted, "When we begin Internet broadcasting from the 'IPTV & Beyond' Exposition on April 19th, we will demonstrate not only near HD quality reception of our programming in several international locations, but our ability to service multi-language consumers all over the world, in any market and time zone. The additional functionality of our 'IPtv Guide' represents the final piece in the completion of our "Triple Play" Wireless Digital Set-top box and Global IPtv Service combo, and is sure to impress all exhibitors and visitors to the show."
