Orb Networks announced a worldwide partnership with Hauppauge Computer Works, Inc., the industry leader in providing personal computer-based TV receivers which enable consumers to enjoy television on their PCs. By adding Hauppauge's WinTV products and Orb's award-winning software to any Windows XP PC, consumers can now enjoy their TV on mobile phones and PDAs from anywhere in the world.
"Millions of consumers worldwide are using Hauppauge WinTV products in their PCs. Now with Orb, these consumers can easily get their WinTV to provide them with TV wherever they go," said Orb Networks CEO Jim Behrens.
Right from the native Web browser and streaming media player of their mobile phone or PDA, consumers can watch live TV, enjoy previously recorded shows, and schedule future recordings. No special mobile software from Orb is required.
The free Orb software on the user's home PC streams TV to any mobile device with a Windows, Real, or 3gp streaming player. This includes devices on the popular Symbian, Palm, Windows, and BREW platforms, ensuring a truly global reach to the Orb solution for TV everywhere.
"This partnership with Orb Networks makes it easy for Hauppauge WinTV users everywhere in the world to get the television they're passionate about wherever they go," said Hauppauge CEO Ken Plotkin. "Now our customers can enjoy the drama of the major sporting events of the summer wherever they are, whether on a mobile device, a laptop around the house, or on a work PC during the critical moments of the game."
