Virage, a wholly owned subsidiary of Autonomy Corporation plc and a leading supplier and visionary in Rich Media Management technology, today announced an extensive range of product upgrades at NAB 2006, the largest electronic media show in the world. Virage will be showcasing these developments throughout the show held between April 24-27 at the Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV. Visitors can see full demonstrations of the whole of Virage's world-leading Rich Media Management technology, including Virage IPTV and VideoLogger, at booth #SL1020.
Virage IPTV signals a new era in content creation and distribution, offering broadcasters enhanced distribution mechanisms and flexibility. Consumers are empowered to become their own virtual editors, slicing and dicing content that is of interest to them and all users now have access to full 24 x 7 recording with real-time seekable access to the encoded video with no delay. Other innovative developments include a new, easy to navigate user-interface, powerful speech recognition capabilities in complex, larger vocabulary languages such as Arabic, Russian and Mandarin and enhanced multi-translation support.
Throughout the Virage range, third generation voice analysis capabilities now provide improved speed and accuracy on larger vocabulary languages. Extended features include automatic language switching and extended speaker segmentation allowing intelligent audio classification. These capabilities have amplified the power of Virage SmartEncode, Virage's revolutionary combination of products which work simultaneously, in real-time, to control, automate and integrate any video workflow. Advanced encoding features enable MPEG-4 (H-264), Quicktime and Flash analysis and encoding to both file and broadcast streams, and provide native support for the Mac platform. In addition, real-time capture to immediately playable and searchable Windows Media 9 and transcoding and live capture to Macromedia Flash place Virage SmartEncode at the forefront of the media analysis and capture market.
Virage has also recently launched Virage Security and Surveillance, delivering world-leading security monitoring solutions. The extensive functionality offered by products such as VS Archive is now available for use on CCTV footage and a whole new range of functionality such as Digital/Network Video Recording, Intelligent Scene Analysis and Automatic License Plate Recognition have been incorporated into the Virage offering.
Rowan Gardner, Marketing Manager for Virage, commented: "Virage has always set the standard for Rich Media Management and is unique is its ability to automate the full range of archiving, monitoring, retrieval and distribution processes.
