Amino, leading IPTV set-top box supplier, today announced that it has received the NAB Award for Innovation in Media (AIM) at the NAB2006 Conference & Exhibition. Amino was the only set-top box vendor selected for this award in the Content Delivery category during the NAB Technology Luncheon held during the conference at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
"As the professionals who are using broadcasting technologies day in and day out, NAB attendees are in a unique position to recognise the hottest products emerging into the marketplace. The NAB would like to extend its congratulations to Amino for this award," said Chris Brown, NAB Senior Vice President, Conventions & Expositions.
The NAB Awards for Innovation in Media (AIM) are the only official NAB awards solely decided by NAB attendees. Roy Kirsopp, VP and General Manager of Amino said, "What makes this award particularly special is that it is voted for by visitors to the show, comprising of professionals from the companies active in the broadcast market. We feel it reflects the fact that our engineers have created a product designed specifically for optimum performance in IPTV applications and at the same time driving down costs per unit."
The AmiNET124 is the first of a number of Amino set-top box products to support the advanced H.264 compression format. This is the second major international award won by the AmiNET124 after the Broadcast Engineering Pick Hit Award at IBC2005 in Amsterdam, which again recognised its innovative design and advanced performance. The AmiNET124 is extremely cost effective for service operators to deploy compared with competing multi-chip solutions available on the market today. This is based on its ability to employ a single chip, the Texas Instruments DM642 DSP, for both H.264 decode and application software, and benefits from the Amino software stack, including the highly efficient H.264 codec, which gives the unit unparalleled performance.
The NAB spring convention is the world's largest electronic media show covering the development, delivery and management of professional video and audio content across all media. Complete details are available at www.nabshow.com
