Broadbus Technologies, Inc., the leading provider of technology solutions for Television on Demand (TOD), and
Axiom Systems, a market leader in service fulfillment software, today announced a partnership to address service providers' need for a next-generation video platform with an operational support system (OSS) that gives subscribers highly reliable, premium on-demand experiences. The alliance creates a solution that enables operators to simplify the deployment of IPTV video offerings, including networked digital video recording (nDVR), time-shifted television and TOD.
While the growing market for IPTV services presents new opportunities for service providers, it also introduces a number of significant challenges. For example, the advanced video services enabled by IPTV demand a more reliable, powerful and scalable video platform. Furthermore, the advent of these new IPTV services will have a marked impact on operational support systems. Designing, creating, delivering and analyzing performance of such services with existing systems is proving to be very complex as the next-generation networks over which they are delivered grow and evolve.
Broadbus and Axiom Systems are providing a solution that addresses these challenges and enables service providers to rapidly deploy an end-to-end, "order to cash" environment. The partnership combines the solid-state Broadbus B-1(TM) Video Server, which provides the most reliable, scalable and best-performing platform for advanced on-demand video services, with Axiom Systems' AXIOSS solutions, which are utilized to design, create, deliver and analyze advanced services across end-to-end next-generation networks.
"Broadbus' partnership with Axiom Systems combines the most powerful platform for advanced video services with a leading OSS solution used by the world's largest communications service providers," said Tom Kennedy, senior director of marketing for Broadbus. "Operators that deploy the Broadbus and Axiom Systems solution will gain the benefits of a solution that addresses their on-demand needs today and in the future, as they deploy advanced services such as time-shifted television and nDVR."
Service providers that deploy the combined Broadbus and Axiom Systems solution receive the benefits of:
- Reduced time to design, create, test and introduce new IPTV services;
- Carrier-class reliability and availability;
- Reduced total cost of ownership;
- Scalable, reliable and high-performance on-demand video infrastructure;
- Simplified activation/provisioning of highly complex end-to-end IPTV
services; and
- Analysis of service performance to ensure continual improvement of IPTV
product profitability.
"Today's service providers recognize that the arrival of advanced services requires a solution that brings together process, systems, departments and technologies to deliver one smoothly functioning entity, capable of continually refining the IPTV product cycle," said Nik Soheili, vice president of alliances for Axiom Systems. "Broadbus and Axiom Systems have brought to market a solution that simplifies the deployment of on-demand video and other IP services, which will scale to meet increasing future demands."
