As you hopefully read in our
last post, Alan Weinkrantz is giving us a first hand look of the AT&T U-Verse IPTV service at
http://www.satechblog.com/. We'll be checking back there daily to read the full user experience.
Some more background on the service...AT&T has been conducting
field trials of their new U-Verse IPTV service in the San Antonio, Texas area for some time. Just recently, AT&T launched limited availiability for their U-Verse IPTV service (also known as Project Lightspeed) in the San Antonio market. You can visit the new AT&T
U-verse website for a preview of their TV and high speed internet packages.
Based on the website, they have three tiers of VDSL:
- U-verse Express Package - 1.5 Mbps downstream, 1 Mbps upstream
- U-verse Pro Package - 3Mbps downstream, 1Mbps upstream
- U-verse Elite Package - 6 Mbps downstream, 1 Mbps upstream
We asked Alan what speeds he was getting and the results were on par with the Elite service, "Download at 5,576 kbps and Upload at 906 kpbs, significantly faster than a traditional DSL line."
