Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. ("Huawei"), a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for operators around the world today announced that it has successfully deployed an end-to-end IPTV solution for
Maroc Telecom. The system, solely engineered by Huawei, recently began commercial service in the Kingdom of Morocco. This marks yet another milestone following other successful implementations in Thailand, Ukraine, Serbia, Montenegro and China's Guangdong province.
Maroc Telecom is the largest integrated telecom operator in fixed, mobile and Internet operation in the Kingdom of Morocco and is in the process of actively expanding its broadband services. Employing the IPTV solutions designed and implemented by Huawei, Maroc Telecom has launched one of the few real H.264-based commercial IPTV pilots during the 2006 FIFA World Cup. The system now offers over 40 TV channels available to 50,000 subscribers. The operator plans to rollout a total of 200 channels and support up to 200,000 subscribers by the year-end, offering a wide range of services including sports, movies, entertainment, information and music download.
Huawei's construction and implementation of the IPTV system for Maroc Telecom took only two months. Huawei's fast response and excellent project management capabilities were recognized by the operator, and once again reflected the strong value proposition of Huawei's IPTV solutions and systems.
Huawei is one of the first vendors to develop deep capabilities in IPTV technology, having invested in research and development in this field since 2003, Huawei's IPTV solution and system are widely recognized in the industry for their openness, stability, reliability, quality design, flexible networking, and their technical advantages in the bearer network.
