Latens Systems, Europe's leading provider
of IPTV Conditional Access, announced that following
Multimedia Polska
awarding it a contract to provide Conditional Access technology to protect the revenues
and content for its IPTV launch, the Latens solution is now installed and fully deployed.
Multimedia Polska, which presently has over 450 000 analogue cable subscribers,
launched its IPTV service in the second quarter of 2006.
The Latens solution is part of a pre-integrated IPTV solution chosen by Multimedia
Polska, which includes: Tilgin Mood 300 IP Set-top Boxes, Latens FCAS Content &
Revenue Protection and Minerva Network’s iTVManager middleware. The
ecosystem, which was launched in March 2006, provides customers with a seamless
and secure migration path to advanced IPTV services. Being part of a pre-integrated
solution enabled the Latens security to be installed soon after contract signing.
"During our evaluation of security technologies it was apparent that there were few
vendors that could meet our needs. We chose Latens because it was part of a preintegrated
solution that offered all the functionality we need, both now and in the future,"
says Bartlomiej Kasinski, Director of Strategy and Development of Multimedia Polska.
The IPTV launch brings IPTV services to four geographically diverse regions of Poland.
Multimedia Polska plans to roll out Digital TV throughout Poland in a staged approach to
increase viewer satisfaction through enhanced TV services, including advanced
navigation and EPGs, VOD, interactive programming and other new exciting content
services.
Bartlomiej Kasinski, Multimedia Polska concludes: "We have ambitious plans to ramp
up our roll-out of Digital TV services throughout Poland, both on our PSTN and cable
networks. The flexibility of Latens technology means that we are free to plan a network
architecture and deployment strategy that can best provide Poland’s TV viewers with
the most exciting new TV services possible."
"This latest contract win and subsequent roll-out cements our position as Europe's most
deployed Conditional Access for IPTV," says, Andy Mathieson, Director, Latens.
"Through being a highly successful cable and PSTN operator, Multimedia Polska is a
trusted entertainment brand that enjoys excellent relationships with its customers and
knows exactly how Poland wants to be entertained. Both of which are key to launching
IPTV services that customers choose over other TV services. I look forward to Latens
playing an important part in Poland’s consumers receiving new entertainment services
and in Multimedia Polska’s continued success."
The pre-integrated Latens, Minerva and Tilgin IPTV Ecosystem consists of: Latens
Foundation CAS, a conditional access system which enables a start-up to launch
with a simplified but secure service without reducing the future functionality of its
Content and Revenue Protection system; Minerva's iTVManager, a complete
software platform for the management and delivery of compelling and profitable
television services over broadband networks; Tilgin IP set-top boxes provide
advanced video streaming and offer dual CPU delivery of IPTV/video services,
integrated Personal Video Recording with trick-play and time-shift viewing, MPEG 2
& 4 and programmable DSPs.
