ImaginAsian Entertainment, Inc., announced that ImaginAsian TV (iaTV), America’s first 24/7 Asian American television network, has reached a new carriage agreement with
Optical Entertainment Network (OEN), the leading provider of IPTV and broadband services built for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), for the Houston market. iaTV will be part of Optical Entertainment Network’s basic package and will be available to all 1.6 million households subscribing to the Houston system.
"ImaginAsian TV looks forward to bringing pan-Asian programming to the Asian and non-Asian communities in Houston," said Anil Srivatsa, EVP of affiliate sales and new business development for ImaginAsian TV. He added, "We are pleased to be partnering with Optical Entertainment Network — the company is highly regarded as an innovator in bringing quality content to the Houston market across a variety of traditional and emerging platforms."
"We are very pleased to add ImaginAsian Entertainment to our 400 channel line-up," said Jo-lynn Foo, VP Programming of Optical Entertainment network. "With its original Asian and English language content, iaTV does a great job of bringing these two cultures together for a greater understanding of each other. Because we are optimized for FTTH with its virtually unlimited bandwidth, we have room in our system for programming that reaches niche markets, including the 14 other foreign language channels that we currently offer."
Since its on-air launch in August 2004, iaTV has brought the finest programs from Asia to the U.S., including anime, hit drama series, blockbuster films, documentaries, music, sports, variety programs and more from Korea, Japan, India, Hong Kong, China, the Philippines, Taiwan and Vietnam. Additionally, iaTV has developed and produced award-winning original programs such as comedy series "Uncle Morty’s Dub Shack”"and reality-based show "Finding My America." All programming is either in English or English-subtitled.
OEN has created FISION, the first and only integrated service for IPTV, Internet, Voice, Video-On-Demand (VOD) and other broadband applications, designed specifically to take advantage of the benefits of FTTH technology and the only service to make all of its content available for license to other communities in the US and abroad. OEN has acquired programming agreements for IPTV distribution from top television networks and will deliver 400 television channels, including over 50 channels of High Definition Television (HDTV) to subscribers, the most channels deployed anywhere to date.
