AT&T Inc. and
Showtime Networks Inc. (SNI) announced a distribution agreement to deliver Showtime linear, high-definition and on-demand programming as part of the AT&T U-verseSM TV channel lineup.
Under the agreement, Showtime will distribute the following content to AT&T U-verse TV customers: Showtime, The Movie Channel, Flix, Showtime Too, Showtime Showcase, Showtime Extreme, Showtime Beyond, Showtime Next, Showtime Women, Showtime FamilyZone, TMC xtra, Showtime HD, The Movie Channel HD, Showtime On Demand and The Movie Channel On Demand.
"AT&T U-verse TV is providing customers with some of today's most cutting-edge television networks, and we're proud to enhance U-verse viewers' experience with programming from Showtime Networks," said Amy Friedlander, senior vice president of programming, AT&T Operations, Inc.
"Our networks are in sync with AT&T U-verse TV to provide a personalized entertainment experience," said Tom Christie, executive vice president of affiliate sales for Showtime Networks. "We are excited to be part of AT&T U-verse TV and to deliver our quality programming through this advanced, next-generation platform."
AT&T U-verse TV is delivered by Project Lightspeed, the company's initiative to expand the fiber-optics network deeper into neighborhoods to deliver U-verse TV, AT&T Yahoo!® High Speed Internet U-verse Enabled and, in the future, Voice over IP services. Through its subsidiaries, AT&T expects to reach nearly 19 million households by the end of 2008 as part of its initial deployment, using fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) and fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) technologies.
Financial and other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
