TVN Entertainment today announced a distribution agreement to deliver an array of TVN video-on-demand (VOD) content as part of the AT&T U-verse TV programming.
Under the agreement, AT&T U-verse TV customers will have access to TVN on-demand programming, including content from the Academy Award-winning studio, Lionsgate, and TVNow, the TVN-exclusive system that transforms live programming into VOD files and makes them available to consumers within hours of the event. AT&T U-verse TV will also include TVN's linear PPV Event Network, which offers access to marquee pay-per-view events such as wrestling, boxing, concerts, comedy specials and more.
"AT&T U-verse TV offers a wide and varied selection of on-demand programming to fit every customers' interests and schedules," said Richard Wellerstein, vice president of VOD programming, AT&T Operations, Inc. "TVN's unique content and expertise strengthen our video-on-demand offering, and we're proud to work with them as we roll out an enhanced and customized VOD library."
"The AT&T U-verse on-demand platform features compelling user advantages that will ultimately enhance the user experience," said John Smith, SVP of affiliate sales at TVN. "We are thrilled to count AT&T as another major telecom partner in rolling out TVN's unique on-demand program packages."
AT&T U-verse TV is delivered by Project Lightspeed, the company's initiative to expand the fiber-optics network deeper into neighborhoods to deliver U-verse TV, AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet U-verse Enabled and, in the future, Voice over IP services. Through its subsidiaries, AT&T expects to reach nearly 19 million households by the end of 2008 as part of its initial deployment, using fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) and fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) technologies.
