As personal video continues to explode with the likes of YouTube and MySpace, IPTV equipment and software providers are looking at ways to integrate personal video channels into their broadcasting solutions. Alcatel and Microsoft demonstrated such an offering at IBC today, where IPTV and personal video are hot topics.
The timing couldn't be better. Service providers are rolling out IPTV around the world and looking for new features to draw customers into switching from traditional TV. Giving users the ability to create and share personal video between family and friends would be a nice selling point.
