IntAct, an Amino Technologies plc company, announced that its internet protocol television (IPTV) software stack and MPEG-4 AVC codecs are now being demonstrated on Texas Instruments Incorporated's (TI) DaVinci technology. IBC visitors can see demonstrations of the most popular IPTV solution in the market running MPEG-4 AVC on TI's flagship technology for digital video.
IntAct also announced its internet protocol set-top box (IP STB) hardware reference design based on DaVinci technology can be licensed by telcos and system integrators looking for a turnkey IP STB with H.264 standard definition (SD) performance. This will enable licensees to have the STB manufactured directly through Contract Equipment Manufacturers (CEMs) or ODMs (Original Device Manufacturers) and stamp their name onto the STB.
As a member of the TI DSP Third Party Network, information on IntAct's codecs, IPTV software, and hardware reference designs for the TMS320DM642 and DaVinci processors are now all easily available to licensees through TI's website. As well as opening up a new potential revenue stream for IntAct, TI also benefits by attracting more prospective customers to its site.
"IntAct's software stack is a great complement to our DaVinci technology," said Charlie Gonsalves, digital video new business development manager, TI. "With more than 100 truly commercial deployments, IntAct is one of the most mature software solutions available for IPTV."
"TI's leadership is long-standing and the company has an exemplary track record of developing the most advanced and reliable semiconductor products for streaming media applications," said Karthik Ranjan, vice president Sales & Marketing, IntAct. "Porting the IntAct software stack onto TI's DaVinci platform will offer customers one of the most advanced H.264 standard definition products on the market today."
Please contact David Cormie for more information or to arrange a demonstration from the 8th September at IBC in Amsterdam. TI will also be present in Hall 1, Stand 410, where they will show a live AmiNET125 demo. Amino's AmiNET125 IPTV STB based on IntAct's reference design incorporates TI's DaVinci technology with the TMS320DM644x digital media processor.
IntAct facilitates outsourcing the costly software development function, bringing a reduction in complexity, management and hence operating expenditure; a reduction in time to market; and a reduction in risk through use of an already deployed and scalable product. With IntAct, operators can reduce their overall CAPEX costs by choosing from a number of different STB hardware suppliers, yet maintain low OPEX costs by relying on one entity, IntAct, to deliver the integrated software to run across all their STB hardware platforms.
