Oregan Networks, a provider of embedded software for Internet media services and communications, has developed UI mechanisms that empower CPE equipment providers and service operators to deliver a true high definition experience on a variety of set top box platforms. With Oregan TV Browser 3.0, high definition IPTV and Video on Demand portals can be created using AJAX technologies, utilising the latest web server-to-client communication methods.
Oregan works with representatives of the entire content delivery value chain, developing fully integrated client architectures that enable a high-end media experience on a minimal CPU and execution memory budget. The company draws on an extensive experience of system integration, as well as acting as a match-maker between Hollywood content aggregators, network operators and STB hardware vendors. An example of such work is a high definition IP Set Top Box reference design which is integrated with the US-based CinemaNow web video service, delivering premium MS-DRM-protected content - now also available as a "fully HD" experience.
Oregan's VP Marketing, Milya Timergaleyeva said, "Subscriber satisfaction and adoption of new services directly depend on a consistently high quality audio-visual experience. Oregan works with selected IP media-focussed silicon partners, ensuring that the resulting reference design delivers high definition audio-visual media, with a complete set of popular new generation codecs: H.264, VC-1 and WMV 9. By enabling a high definition User Interface for video and web-based applications we fully utilise the hardware capabilities, without sacrificing rendering speed or increasing hardware costs."
During IBC 2006, the company is showcasing a variety of hybrid DVB STB reference designs that, in addition to cable, terrestrial and satellite broadcast reception, deliver digital content over any IP network architecture: UPnP home network content, broadband over-the-top media and telco-grade linear IPTV and video on demand services.
