Verimatrix announced a technology alliance with
Motorola and the integration of the Verimatrix Video Content Authority System (VCAS) with its leading series of IP set-top boxes (STBs). Motorola's advanced VIP1900 series is the first line of their IP STBs to fully support the VCAS solution. The VIP1900 series is fully functional with High Definition (HD) and Standard Definition in MPEG-2 and H.264 (MPEG-4), and Digital Video Recorder (DVR) support including time shift. Verimatrix is demonstrating VCAS integrated with HD STBs and DVRs at TelcoTV 2006 Booth #927.
Motorola's VIP1900 series combines consumer features, such as HDTV, DVR and media center with highly-useful operator features such as low bit rate video formats, reliable operation and flexible application possibilities. It also features the KreaTV Application Platform, which is the same set-top software platform used in previous generations of IP STBs widely deployed among large telecom operators, making the different models compatible and possible to be installed in parallel. Its Linux-Java based application development platform allows for easy customization enabling service providers and application developers the ability to design their video services just how they want them.
Motorola is the provider of communications and entertainment products worldwide and a leading vendor of IPTV equipment to pioneering system operators. "The integration of VCAS technology with our most advanced IPTV set-top models broadens the opportunity for both Verimatrix and Motorola in the next rounds of IPTV system rollouts," stated Matthias Trygg, marketing director of Motorola IPTV Open Systems. "It is very satisfying to extend our long lasting relationship with Verimatrix on the KreaTV Application Platform from H.264 to now also secure high definition video."
"We are very pleased to be working with Motorola to offer a combination of advanced STB capabilities and advanced content security for our rapidly growing customer base. Content owners and operators always appreciate the broad choice of IPTV clients with leading-edge features that are supported by Verimatrix," said Steve Oetegenn, EVP of Global Sales and Marketing, Verimatrix. "We are looking forward to supporting some of our next large scale deployments with this attractive solution."
