NeuLion Inc. announced a new service agreement with Switch and Data, to support its iPTV customer network growth. The announcement was made at the 2006 SATCON Conference & Expo, at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City.
NeuLion currently operates the largest IPTV Chinese Network with KyLinTV; the only global African IPTV Network with Africast; a groundbreaking IPTV service with the New York Islanders and an association with the NHL. Additionally, NeuLion has technology and service agreements with ABS-CBN for Filipinos and several other affinity broadcasters that continue to drive scalability in its operation.
The Switch and Data agreement provides NeuLion with the one of the largest footprints of neutral Internet exchange and co-location facilities in North America with 34 data centers in 23 markets.
"We have already leveraged Switch and Data capabilities in both New York and Palo Alto," said Ron Nunn, Executive Vice President of Operation for NeuLion. "The New York City operation has advanced multi-Gigabit Ethernet and optical networking capabilities and the Palo Alto operation provides one of the densest Internet exchanges in the world."
NeuLion's agreement with Switch and Data provides access to more than 350 unique networks. This will allow NeuLion customers the benefit of focusing their business strategy and time, on content aggregation, and not have to worry about the service delivery, handled exclusively by NeuLion and Switch and Data.
Both companies combined have attained the largest U.S. IPTV subscriber base of streaming broadcast television with one of the largest neutral commercial Internet exchange points in the world.
