Belgacom has added DVR functionality, tagged "Comfort View", to their IPTV service. Belgacom TV's "Comfort View" will allow customers to pause or rewind programs they are watching. They can now also record their favorite programs very easily from their electronic TV guide.
These new features are available free of charge to all Belgacom TV customers from 16 February to the end of June. After that, "Comfort View" will be available for €1.95 per month.
These new features are possible thanks to the 80GB hard disk integrated in the Belgacom TV decoders. The three "Comfort View" features described below:
- Pause TV: This feature allows you to pause a TV program (for up to 60 minutes) by pressing the "pause" button on your remote control. The "play" button allows you to resume the program where you left off. To return to the live program, press the "stop" button. The temporarily paused program is actually recorded on the hard disk.
- Instant Rewind: This feature enables you to go back up to 60 minutes in a program underway. You can then watch the program in a slightly delayed time. This feature it possible to view a given sequence as many times as you like. To return to the live program, press the "stop" button.
- Personal Video Recorder: This feature allows you to record a TV channel's program directly onto your decoder's hard disk. To start recording, press the "REC" button on your remote control: the program underway will now be recorded. For a program that is broadcast later, you can program the recording to start later using the electronic page guide menu. Recorded programs are stored on the decoder's hard disk, which has a maximum storage capacity of 46 hours. For an overview of the programs you have recorded and the programs currently set up to be recorded, simply access the user-friendly PVR menu at any time.
