Denmark's TDC today launched its new IPTV service, TDC TV. More than 1.6 million households will be able to access TDC TV via their broadband connection. TDC TV offers 35 TV channels and includes a video on-demand movie rental service.
At the moment, approximately 65 percent of all Danish households can subscribe to TDC TV. They expect the coverage rate will have reached approximately 70% by the end of the year, corresponding to some 1.8 million households.
"The new generation of TDC TV is one of TDC's most important growth projects within broadband for many years. We deliver telephony, Internet, and TV through one and the same wall outlet. This is clearly the most user-friendly solution in the market because it is interactive and offers the possibility of e.g. renting movies. And you do not have to endure the sight of a satellite disc on the chimney or the balconye," says Gert Rieder, President of TDC Residential.
Additional new features of the IPTV service include a new Viasat channel package, electronic TV guide, digital recorder, pause feature, and more than 200 movies available for rental. Moreover, the network is prepared for HDTV.
TDC TV service requires users to have TDC Broadband and a digital set-top box subscription (TDC Digital Recorder) at DKK 69 per month.
TDC TV, including TDC Film (Video on-demand), comes in four different packages:
- Basic (6 channels): DKK 109 (USD 19) per month
- Basic + Family (22 channels): DKK 199 (USD 35) per month
- Basic + Family (19 channels): DKK 396 (USD 70) per month
- Basis + Family + Viasat (35 channels): DKK 486 (USD 86) per month
