Pace Micro Technology announces it has integrated its newest set-top boxes - Pace’s Tahoe TDC775 HD-DVR and Pace’s Vegas TDC575 SD-DVR – with TANDBERG Television’s OpenStream Digital Services Platform.
The TANDBERG Television OpenStream Digital Services Platform allows operators to easily deploy on-demand services using VOD servers, applications, billing systems and other system components of their choice. OpenStream's unique, open architecture extends the cable head-end beyond VOD to support television's next generation of interactive services. The platform today delivers on-demand streams to more than 80 U.S. markets reaching more than 15 million digital subscribers.
Pace Micro Technology Americas’ Director of Application Integration, Chris Hindin, commented, “We are happy to integrate TANDBERG Television into our set-top box platforms. Both companies have long-term commitments to open standards providing great flexibility in the on-demand market. And, thanks to our Pace EngineWare common platform software stack, we can easily port applications to our boxes in record time.”
Pace has integrated the major VOD vendors with its flagship dual-tuner, high-definition Tahoe TDC775 HD-DVR, and its Vegas TDC575 SD-DVR. Both boxes - available with CableCARD or embedded Conditional Access - can run either native applications or CableLabs’ OpenCable Applications Platform. All of the Pace set-tops can run in either DOCSIS Signaling Gateway (DSG) or legacy Out of Band mode for network messaging.
“This latest integration with Pace is an exciting addition to the OpenStream partner ecosystem," said Braxton Jarratt, senior vice president of Marketing and Business Development, TANDBERG Television, Inc. “Our OpenStream platform provides operators with tremendous flexibility and choice, allowing operators to use best-of-breed technologies with the most complete choice of pre-integrated vendors."
Tahoe TDC778X HD DVR (CableCARD and Embedded CA)
The most advanced high-definition DVR for North America, this dual-tuner HD-DVR set-top box is the world’s first high-definition DVR OCAP-compliant platform ready for deployment on existing networks. Tahoe also has been fully integrated with the latest generation of set-top EPG and VOD applications. Tahoe’s internal DOCSIS 2.0 modem can also provide high-speed data connections and was the industry’s first set-top certified by CableLabs for DOCSIS/DSG.
Vegas TDC575 SD-DVR (CableCARD and Embedded CA)
This dual-tuner SD-DVR is the first of its kind available for Motorola-type networks. It is a richly featured set-top that includes advanced connectivity, DOCSIS, and the latest applications. Like Tahoe, Vegas has been integrated with the latest EPG and VOD applications and additionally supports OCAP. Vegas has also been certified by CableLabs for DSG. Its slim-case design and low cost make Vegas the choice for large-scale DVR deployments.
