Alcatel-Lucent announces that NRGi Fibernet has selected its industry-leading triple play service delivery architecture as the basis for a roll-out of voice, video and data services by September 2007. NRGi will leverage Alcatel-Lucent’s extensive triple play deployment expertise and technologically-advanced GPON and IP/MPLS portfolios to give Århus - Denmark’s second largest city - advanced broadband and IPTV services.
Under the terms of the contract, NRGi Fibernet will deploy the Alcatel-Lucent 7342 ISAM FTTU and optical network terminals for full end-to-end fiber access, supported by the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router and 7450 Ethernet Service Switch as a core and distribution network to connect 370 sites and 20,000 users. Alcatel-Lucent will also be responsible for software integration, installation and commissioning, maintenance and advanced project management.
“We require a single vendor who can deliver the right technology, integration and project management expertise and Alcatel-Lucent is clearly one of the only vendors offering such a complete package,” says Kim Kjølhede, CEO in NRGi Fibernet. “We selected Alcatel-Lucent as our partner in an ambitious plan because they have proven leadership in deploying triple play and an extremely flexible solution that is well-suited to our network and commercial roll-out objectives.”
“Field-proven technical expertise, global industry leadership, and a broad product portfolio uniquely position Alcatel-Lucent to design and build networks that meet the most challenging requirements as power utilities transform their networks to deliver advanced broadband services,” said Lars Boilesen, responsible for Alcatel-Lucent’s activities in the Nordic & Baltic countries. “We will support NRGi Fibernet as they enhance their network to maximize revenue potential and enhance the customer experience.”
