TANDBERG announces that DeKalb Telephone Cooperative Communications has selected TANDBERG Television video processing systems to launch advanced IPTV services. DTC Communications has chosen the TANDBERG Mediaplex and iPlex video processing platforms to build a new MPEG-4 AVC video head-end to deliver high quality video in standard definition and high definition to subscriber homes. The market-leading TANDBERG iPlex and Mediaplex video systems will be demonstrated at NXTcomm 2007 (Chicago – June 18-21 – booth #4815).
By building its own video head-end, DTC Communications can now deliver advanced television services, including interactivity, to thousands of subscribers throughout the region. The deployment includes several of TANDBERG Television’s Mediaplex-20 video platforms with MPEG-4 AVC encoders and transcoders processing 114 SD channels, and a number of iPlex video processing systems hosting MPEG-4 AVC HD encoders for 10 HD channels. TANDBERG Television worked closely with integration partner Dascom Systems Group to build a turnkey satellite receiver system that would ensure reliability.
TANDBERG Television is the leading IPTV service provider worldwide, with over 180 IPTV deployments serving more than 3 million IPTV subscribers worldwide with video streams delivered by TANDBERG Television technology. TANDBERG Television was recently named the IPTV market leader for video head-ends in Asia, Europe and Rest of World by Multimedia Research Group, Inc. and the iPlex video processing system has won two prestigious industry awards for best IPTV head end in 2007.
