Newsweek has a
great story on the success, struggles, and strategy of Major League Baseball Advanced Media, also known as MLBAM or BAM. The digital offshoot of MLB will bring in approximately $400 million in revenue. That includes income via MLB.TV, which will host more than a million subscribers, nearly $80 million in merchandise sales, a blog network, wireless phone subscriptions that include updates, ringtones and cell-phone wallpaper, and much much more. Not too shabby.
As for its site MLB.TV, BAM will be adding to its already feature-rich website the ability to watch games from multiple camera angles. The website already employs the ability to watch 6 live games at the same time, dubbed MLB.TV Mosaic.
My question is: should the NFL, NBA, NHL, NCAA, etc. be following suit?
