In the Internet TV space, the
Wall Street Journal and
New York Times both reported last week that Sony Pictures Television is creating its own Internet TV channel on MySpace. The space will be called the Minisode Network and will feature vintage Sony series including Charlie's Angels, The Facts of Life, Fantasy Island, Different Strokes, The Partridge Family, and Who's the Boss.
The shows have been condensed from their original length of 30 or 60 minutes down to 4 to 6 minutes. Sony assures that the compressed content still has the full impact as the full-length originals.
Honda has agreed to sponsor the site in a deal estimated at six figures. The company will advertise its Honda Fit vehicle and has shortened its advertising down to five-second spots to fit the compressed shows.
