The Daily Reel launches "ReeledIn," the first ever business social network for online video content creators. Since the company launched in October 2006, the site has focused on finding the most talented online video creators and highlighting their work via its online video services. Along the way, The Daily Reel has become a central clearinghouse for the mainstream entertainment and advertising industries as they attempt to develop web-based movie and video making talent.
"
ReeledIn" focuses on the core community of "doers," the people who are actually creating free online videos and user generated content. "ReeledIn" provides a social networking opportunity for these enthusiasts to meet each other online, collaborate, learn tricks of the trade and maybe even get hired by an advertising or American home entertainment company.
Through its relationship with a core group of passionate, high quality independent movie and online video content creators, The Daily Reel began surveying the wants and needs of the web video and movie community that sprung up around the site and incorporated their suggestions into what has become "ReeledIn."
"Since we launched last fall, we've been working with some of the top online short movie and video content creators to build a community that reflects their needs," Jeff Stern, CEO, The Daily Reel, said. "These passionate online video clip creators told us they wanted to be able to connect with other independent film and digital video content creators to collaborate and learn from each other."
The Daily Reel estimates that there are more than 6 million independent video content creators online, with more than half regularly creating and posting new work and free videos online.
Over the past year, online video, via sites like You Tube, Google Video, Yahoo Video, Myspace Video and others have had an enormous impact on politics, pop culture and society at large. "This increasingly influential and passionate video and movie making community has been searching for a place to meet, exchange ideas, learn from each other and become better at their craft.
