ITonis is not only the first non-Chinese company to become involved in Internet Television in China but, in another ground-breaking development, is also developing a channel to sell lottery tickets on behalf of the State Sports Lottery.
To be launched with the first 80 Chinese language channels in early 2008 to a potential audience of over 130 million, the new Lottery Channel will be offered through ITonis' wholly-owned foreign enterprise, Flow. By introducing new lottery and other gaming products, revenues are expected to increase significantly.
Commenting on the deal, Thomas Roberts, ITonis CEO, said: "We were delighted to be extending our platform in such dynamic and exciting ways. Like IPTV, the gaming market in China has previously been closed to foreign companies and this is a unique opportunity to gain a foothold in this key growth sector.
