OPTICOM unleashes
www.PEVQ.org, the new test & measurement industry's market overview on Video QoE Testing. The new web portal comprises an up-to-date listing on commercially available video quality testing tools which can analyze the picture quality for video telephony, Mobile TV and IPTV by providing a MOS score, just as subscribers would perceive the quality of a service.
OPTICOM's Perceptual Evaluation of Video Quality, a patented technology proposed for international standardization, measures degradations occurring through a network by analyzing the degraded video signal output from the network. QoE testing is based on modeling the behavior of the human visual system and besides the overall quality abnormalities in the video signal are quantified by a variety of KPIs, including PSNR, distortion indicators and lip-sync delay.
OPTICOM offers its new easy to use real-time PEVQ measurement as part of the PEXQ software suite for Windows, and has licensed PEVQ to a range of OEM products from leading T&M manufacturers. The solutions cover different use cases from pre-deployment feature testing for the lab, over load testing and test tools for installation and network optimization to IPTV test and monitoring equipment. Visiting PEVQ.ORG will not only unleash leading industry partners including IXIA, Testquest, Shenick and several more, who have licensed OPTICOM's PEVQ core technology, but also provide direct links to the relevant OEM's product sites, according to categories for use cases, test applications and targeted customers.
With its unique approach, OPTICOM contributes to the demand arising from Mobile TV and IPTV still to match the perceived quality standards of the incumbent TV broadcast. More fast growing demand to tackle all dimensions of Quality of Experience as perceived by customers is anticipated to arise from Fixed/Mobile convergence and the new Broadband home.
