DigiLink announce the availability of a hardware and software developer kit that allows digital media equipment manufacturers to rapidly develop IPTV applications for multimedia content owners, aggregators and content suppliers. The new kit utilizes world class audio and video codecs, a standards compliant file container, network and graphic user interface libraries, a Linux operating system and device drivers, and sample applications with code. The combination of Visioneering's Sonata set-top box, DigiLink's rich software capabilities and Texas Instruments Incorporated's DaVinci technology allows IPTV designers to quickly develop cost-effective solutions to match their growing markets needs.
The Sonata STB includes:
- TI's TMS320DM6446 digital media processor based on DaVinci technology
- NTSC/PAL up to 720p resolution
- H.264, WM9, VC-1, MPEG4, and MPEG2
- MontaVista Linux operating system
- Ethernet and USB 2.0 interfaces
- Optional 802.11G wireless
- Optional digital video recorder up to 500 GB
- Optional two way video/audio communications at 30 frames per second
- Optional composite or S-video for video capture
