Harmonic announces that its
Rhozet Carbon Coder video transcoding solution has been selected by
Pharos for integration with the Mediator v3 media management system. The Pharos Mediator and Rhozet Carbon Coder solution is deployed at international broadcaster Viasat, part of the Modern Times Group of companies. Providing optimized workflow management solutions to broadcasters and television, radio, IPTV and telecommunications service providers, Pharos selected Carbon Coder to improve the digital workflow by integrating previously disparate broadcast and IT technology systems.
Carbon Coder is used directly within the Mediator workflow to increase efficiency in the production of content for Viasat Broadcasting's many TV channels, which reach 100 million people across 24 European countries. These workflow improvements include enabling migration from legacy file formats, desktop HD spot-checking and quality control, and digital file sharing with third-party post-production facilities that provide remote voice-over and subtitle services.
Harmonic’s Rhozet Carbon Coder is a universal transcoding application that facilitates the transfer of media between a variety of platforms, including acquisition, editing, playout, archive, the Internet and mobile devices. Carbon Coder can run as a stand-alone application or as part of a multi-node, fully-automated rendering farm. Carbon Coder provides high-performance, scalable and cost-effective transcoding for a broad range of business environments, from specialized studios to enterprise-scale installations.
