Backspace has reached a new milestone with the addition of mobile IPTV solutions to their technology offering. Backspace Communications was one of the first movers to develop a complete IPTV broadcasting solution nearly 8 years ago by merging the technology and assets of an ISP and a local television station, and now they are one of the first to offer streaming mobile television capability. Backspace Communications will be demonstrating this solution live at NXTcomm in Las Vegas on June 16-19th.
While there are other solutions out there that allow users to view video on their mobile device, a large percentage of them allow only VoD services. The solution from Backspace however, allows users to watch the same content and programming as they can see on their television set: live television in addition to VoD.
Infonetics reports that sales of video-capable mobile devices will reach nearly $125 million in 2010, and that there will be nearly 60 million users of mobile video at that time. The mobile solution offered from Backspace allows carriers to take advantage of this growth. In addition to mobile video capability, Backspace Communications offers a full suite of IPTV broadcasting products and a wide range of consulting services to help prospective IPTV operators design and deploy their content.
Moreover, Backspace has recently released an IPTV system design guide that will educate potential operators on how to build an IPTV broadcast system.
