Hamilton Sundstrand’s Special Test Equipment group is standardizing on
Concurrent’s RedHawk real-time Linux operating system and NightStar advanced Linux tools. The Special Test Equipment group designs, builds and supports propulsion system simulators (used in the development and test of military and commercial engine controls), systems for the development and test of flight controls, engine control monitoring systems for ground and flight test, and simulation systems. It also provides a core software technology for engine test stand and rig test stand control systems. Concurrent’s RedHawk Linux will be embedded in all of the engine test stands supported by Hamilton Sundstrand.
Hamilton Sundstrand designs and manufactures aerospace systems for commercial, regional, corporate, and military aircraft, and is a major supplier for international space programs. The Special Test Equipment group has elected to transition from legacy real-time operating software to RedHawk Linux in all new systems, with plans to upgrade more than 200 existing deployed systems. A significant win for Concurrent, the sale also includes Concurrent’s NightStar tools for advanced Linux development and custom engineering by Concurrent’s Special Systems team.
NightStar tools and RedHawk real-time Linux are used in the development, debugging, and deployment of thousands of major automotive, aerospace and defense, energy, and industrial automation applications worldwide. Concurrent’s Special Systems team delivers a range of consulting services to provide fully integrated solutions engineered to customer specifications.
