Tilgin's new cost-optimized Mood 400 IP Set-top that greatly reduces operator costs for deploying a PVR enabled IPTV service. The new Mood 400-022 IP Set-top Media Center offers a broad range of managed High Definition IPTV service capabilities, of which advanced PVR is the foremost. Reducing costs for deploying this feature is critical as more and more consumers rank PVR functionality like pause live TV, time-shift and schedule recordings as the most important features they would like to have in their TV service. Recent consumer research presented by Deutsche Telekom shows that the top two TV features appreciated by consumers are Pause live TV with Time-shift (58%) and Scheduled Recording (52%). 81% of TiVo PVR users would rather give up their iPod than be without their PVR service.
The Mood 400-022 includes an integrated 160GB hard disk drive with advanced multi-stream and multi-room PVR functionality. Consumers are able to simultaneously handle multiple HD streams in their set-top, recording two streams while viewing another. Stored content can also be shared with all other Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) compliant set-tops and consumer devices in the home.
At the heart of the Mood 400-022 is a common software platform shared with all other Mood 400 set-tops. Continuously evolving, it offers robust best-in-class performance and advanced functionality required to deliver high quality, interactive and personalized IPTV services. Support exists for DLNA/UPnP, SIP and IMS allowing providers to deliver expanded service functionality like Remote Access, Instant Messaging, Caller ID, VoIP and many more communication and media sharing applications. Integration with third party application developers is done with a powerful and easy-to-use software development kit.
Tilgin exhibits and showcases its Mood 400-022 solution at IBC in Amsterdam, the Netherlands on September 12-16 in hall 12 (IPTV Zone) stand IP255.
