We are pleased to announce a new awards program at TelcoTV 2008! The TelcoTV Vision Awards honor innovation in video and entertainment convergence. Awards will be granted to the most compelling new products, applications, or services in each of the seven designated categories. To be eligible, the product or service being nominated must have been unveiled or commercially deployed no earlier than TelcoTV 2007 (October 23, 2007).

Submissions will be judged by a panel of industry experts, including:
- Bernardin Arnason, Chairman, TelcoTV
Bernie brings 15 years of telecom experience to Pivot Media, where he provides strategic direction and management. Bernie is a well respected leader within the telecom industry and is a frequent speaker and panelist at regional and national events. Bernie follows the telecom industry closely and conducts and authors industry research and whitepapers, and develops and manages compelling conferences and events. Bernie is also the managing editor of Telecompetitor, a web based hub and forum focusing on the evolving telecom competitive landscape. Past accomplishments include co-founding the TelcoTV Conference and Expo, which he also co-chairs. Bernie is also a principal with Pivot Media's sister company, Pivot Group, a strategic marketing consulting and research firm serving individual telecom carriers.

- Steve Fravel, Video Services Manager, NTCA
With a background in television production and live event telecasting, Steve Fravel was presented the opportunity to change career disciplines in early 1994. Since that time, he has taken an active role in product development, with an emphasis on video communications, working with Iowa Network Services and the 147 rural independent telephone companies it serves. For the past seven years, Steve has concentrated his efforts on video content acquisition and management. Steve has helped establish INS DET (digital entertainment television) into a competitive and compelling alternative choice to cable and satellite services among Iowa's rural telephone company customers.

- Keith Gailtz, President, Canby Telcom
Keith Galitz became President and General Manager of Canby Telcom in March 2003 with over 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Over his career within the Bell System and Qwest Communications, he held a variety of both legal and senior management positions. Canby Telcom serves an 84 square mile area just outside of Portland, Oregon with voice, hi-speed internet, and IPTV. It also is in the process of implementing an aggressive fiber to the home deployment plan, which will be completed in the fall of 2009. Keith received his Bachelors of Business Administration Degree from the University of North Texas; a Law Degree from Baylor University, and is a graduate of the Advanced Management Program at Harvard University’s School of Business.

- Aditya Kishore, Senior Analyst, Heavy Reading
Kishore has 12 years' experience in consumer media. His coverage areas at Heavy Reading include digital media applications and services and their distribution over broadband networks. Prior to Heavy Reading, Kishore was the Director of Global Media and Entertainment at the Yankee Group. He was responsible for managing and coordinating media research across Yankee Group analyst teams in North America, Europe, and Asia. Kishore began his career in television news, then spent three years in advertising, working with a range of leading consumer brands, including Nestlé, Samsung, and McDonald's. He also developed a number of digital video and Web projects for various New England broadcast stations and independent producers, including interactive video projects with the PBS network series Frontline. Kishore holds a B.A. in economics from Delhi University, India, and an M.A. in media from Emerson College. He is based in the U.K.

- Kevin McGuire, VP Business & Technology, NTCA
Kevin McGuire is the vice president of business and technology for National Telecommunications Cooperative Association (NTCA) and is responsible for keeping members updated on technological trends, as well as seeking out new revenue generating products and services. Prior to joining NTCA, Kevin spent 9 years at member company Hancock Telecom in Maxwell, Indiana, as their director of business development. There he led the teams that rolled-out Hancock's Wireless Broadband, DSL, and IP Video, and was actively involved with Hancock's FTTH deployments.

- David Osborn, General Manager, Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc.
Dave Osborn is General Manager of Valley Telephone Cooperative, Inc. and VTX Communications L.P. headquartered in Raymondville, Texas. VTCI is an RLEC operating in a 7,300 square mile service area in South Texas; VTXC is a fiber optic transport carrier and wireless ISP. Osborn’s early career began with Southwestern Bell in Dallas in 1970 and ended in a senior position at AT&T in New Jersey. Osborn has since founded and developed several companies and is known as a turnaround specialist in the industry. His most recent employers have been Active Voice Corporation, COM2001.com, Inc. and Grande River Technology Group (now VTX Broadband, Inc.).

- Innovation in Encoding - Including all codec and encoding technologies for mobile or terrestrial applications.
- Service Provider's Innovation Award (50,000+ video subscribers) - can include any new application deployed by a service provider with more than 50,000 video subscribers
- Service Provider's Innovation Award (fewer than 50,000 video subscribers) - can include any new application deployed by a service provider with 50,000 or fewer video subscribers
A final award, Best in Show, will be bestowed upon the most innovative, most interesting technology on display at TelcoTV, as decided by our panel of industry judges. All nominations for the above mentioned seven categories will be considered for Best in Show. You do not need to apply for this award separately.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible, the product or service being nominated must have been unveiled or commercially deployed no earlier than TelcoTV 2007 (October 23, 2007). Vendors are encouraged to nominate their customers for the Service Provider Innovation Award. There is no limit to the number of products/services that you can nominate, and you may nominate the same product/service in multiple categories if applicable.
