SeaChange announces the availability of a new universal session resource manager that will allow managed network operators to deliver the best possible video experience to consumers no matter the device they are using to watch or when. SeaChange’s uSRM will enable operators to guarantee quality of service across access, aggregation and edge networks for cable, IP and wireless delivery of video.
Residing between the transport network layer and applications, the SeaChange uSRM provides per-session and per-subscriber QoS guarantees for large scale single- and multi-application deployments, controlling the use of network resources on behalf of applications such as, IMS, IPTV, video-on-demand, generic data services and video-based internet services. It also allows operators to control subscriber, service and network resource policies based upon established business rules. Locating the uSRM between the transport network and applications alleviates the need for complex functions within each application and allows applications to share network capacity resources.
The uSRM is a new feature of SeaChange’s widely deployed Axiom on Demand content delivery platform, which every year is entrusted to deliver billions of on-demand streams worldwide. SeaChange uSRM leverages fully integrated resource control management software from NetSocket, a provider of real-time vision and resource control for IP networks that helps operators identify and resolve network issues quickly, maximize network performance, and reduce operating costs.
